Stockholmsmassan
Stockholmsmassan sits in Alvsjo, just south of central Stockholm, and is owned by the City of Stockholm. Founded in 1942, it offers around 70,000 square metres of indoor exhibition space within a facility of roughly 114,000 square metres, with about 76 meeting and conference rooms, a dozen restaurants and cafes, and capacity for up to around 27,000 people.
The venue is strongly sustainability-focused: it is ISO 20121 certified and recycles or reuses some 98 per cent of its waste. That is worth knowing before you brief a stand, because a venue operating to that standard tends to expect the same from exhibitors. Ask your contractor early about material choices, reuse of structures between shows and what happens to the stand at breakdown. On a design-led Scandinavian fair, a stand that is visibly wasteful reads badly to the audience as well as the venue.
A design-fair standard of finish
The venue's landmark event is the Stockholm Furniture Fair, a fixture of Scandinavian design. We do not currently hold a fair listing for Stockholm, so this page covers the city and venue rather than a calendar.
The practical consequence of a design-led programme is that finish quality is scrutinised more closely here than at a general trade show. Visitors are designers, specifiers and buyers whose job is noticing materials, joints and light. Budget accordingly: a stand that would pass unremarked at an industrial fair can look cheap in this room.
